Perma Salt Pools

The Perma Salt System

  • Is a copper-based system

  • Does NOT convert salt into chlorine

  • Is an alternative approach to clean water chemistry

  • Can simplify pool ownership and maintenance in certain above-ground situations

  • Uses a 2-week chemical maintenance pattern

  • Has much less salt than traditional salt water pools because it is not a salt water pool system

  • More cost effective than any other non-chlorine system

  • Has been known to struggle with high-bather-loads situations and lots of leaves

 

Although Lebanon Chemical - The Pool's Edge is not a Perma Salt dealer, we can help you take care of your copper-based pool. The Perma Salt system, along with others, is a copper-based water chemistry system. We have all the supplies, including the copper chamber, control box, and chemicals.
The Perma Salt System uses an alternative natural synergy approach to water purification. First, the Perma Salt Chamber disperses natural minerals into the water, such as copper and silver, that serve as a natural algicide and sanitizer. By simply adjusting the dial, these natural mineral levels can be adjusted and maintained to their ideal levels. In addition, these natural minerals are complemented by a family of other traditional pool products.

Start Up

The total dissolved solids (TDS) of the water must be at a minimum of 1000 ppm in order for the copper to reach optimal levels. This is done by adding pool-grade salt to the water. After the salt has been added, add 20lbs of Optimizer (maybe more for larger pools) and 1 bottle of Easy Shock & Swim.

Maintenance

Test for copper levels. Your copper level should be maintained between .3 and .5 ppm. Adjust the output levels by turning the control knob up or down. It may take a few days for your copper levels to reach the desired levels.

Every 2 Weeks 

  • Add Natural Results & Easy Shock & Swim (amount varies by gallonage)

  • Easy Shock & Swim treats over twice as many (x2.5) gallons as Activate per pound

  • Natural Results treats twice as many (x2) gallons  as  Klairate per bottle

  • Regulate copper levels by adjusting dial on the control box

  • Test and adjust pH and Alkalinity as needed

Optimal levels for properly balanced Perma Salt water 

  • pH 7.4 - 7.6

  • Total Alkalinity 80-140ppm

  • Calcium Hardness 200-350ppm

  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) >1000ppm

NOTE: Customers using well water with any copper system should not use an iron remover. This will counteract with the the copper ions that the system is generating.

The Pristine Blue System

  • Is a liquid copper-based system

  • Is an alternative approach to clean water chemistry

  • Can simplify pool ownership and maintenance in certain above-ground situations

  • Uses a 2-week chemical maintenance pattern

  • Does not use salt and is compatible with other sanitation systems

  • Has been known to struggle with high-bather-loads situations and lots of leaves
     

Start Up: Spring Opening or Freshly-Filled Pool

Start with a clean pool and functional equipment. Remove leaves and other debris and then vacuum. Check to make sure pump, heater and other equipment are operational. Clean or backwash the filter. Run the filter continuously through this start up process.
 

Step 1: Balance

Balance water to the following ranges:

  • Total Alkalinity: 60 to 90 ppm

  • pH: 7.2 to 7.6

  • Calcium Hardness: 100 to 400 ppm


NOTE: It is unlikely, but achieving optimal water balance may take several days. Be patient.
 

Step 2: PREP

2a. Add 2 ounces of PristineCheck per 1,000 gallons of pool water. Run filter for 6 hours.
 

2b. Add 1 pound of BioGuard Oxysheen per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Continue running your filter pump for a minimum of 12 hours before proceeding.
 

NOTE: If your pool was green prior to converting to PristineBlue® you may have to add

calcium hypo shock daily until water is clear.
 

Step 3: Add PristineBlue

3a. Backwash filter or clean cartridge thoroughly.
 

3b. SPRING OPENING/CURRENT USERS: Test the PristineBlue level and add PristineBlue according to the Maintenance Dosage Chart located on the next page.
 

3c. NEW USERS: Add 2 ounces of PristineBlue per 1,000 gallons of pool water.


REMINDER: Periodic testing to insure pH is within the 7.2 to 7.6 range after start-up is all that’s necessary.
 

You should always read the product label carefully for important warnings, dosage information and instructions.
 

Every 2 Weeks 

Step 1: Balance

1a. Test water balance parameters to insure they are in recommended ranges.


1b. Add chemicals, if necessary, to balance water to appropriate ranges below:​

  • pH: 7.2 to 7.6

  • Calcium Hardness: 100 to 350ppm

  • Total Alkalinity: 60 to 90ppm


Step 2: PREP

2a. Shock with 1 bag of BioGuard Oxysheen per 10,000 gallons of pool water. 

NOTE: You may shock as often as once a week or after: 1) heavy bather load or 2) excessive rain.


2b: Add 2 ounces of PristineClean per 10,000 gallons of pool water.


2c: Add 2 ounces of PristineClear per 10,000 gallons of pool water.


Step 3: Add PristineBlue

3a: Test for residual PristineBlue level of your pool. (Normal is less than 1 ppm)


3b: Add PristineBlue as needed
